Hot Honey
Ingredients
1 | cup CO-OP GOLD PURE honey
2–3 | tsp red chili flakes or one fresh hot chili of your choice, sliced into ¼-inch rings
2–3 | tsp apple cider vinegar or lime juice (optional)
Pinch of salt or dried herbs (optional) |
Directions
Make your own hot honey!
Hot honey is easy to make at home. Feel free to riff on the recipe to make it your own – and to create the spice level of your choice.
- Heat honey and chilies together in a small saucepan until the mixture starts to simmer.
- Remove from heat and let it infuse and cool for 10 minutes. Taste for desired level of heat (it’s easier to add more chilies than to remove heat).
- Add apple cider vinegar if desired for a bit of tang and to make the honey more pourable. Strain if desired. Use immediately or store in a jar.
Hot honey made with fresh chilies should be stored in the fridge. If it’s made with red chili flakes, it can be stored at room temperature.
